Queridos padres, hermanos, primos, tios, amigos, periodistas, políticos... queridos desconocidos que nos habéis seguido tan atentamente. ¿Qué os podemos contar sobre todo el proyecto llamado “Pedaleando para vencer el Parkinson”?

Pues que ha sido como una película...una película de amor sobre todo, con sus momentos de drama, con sus momentos de humor y sobre todo con final muy feliz. ¿quienes de los que estaban presentes a nuestra llegada a Murcia no se emocionaron un poco? Yo creo que a todos los allí presentes les llegó al corazón.

Cuantas veces soñamos despiertos con sueños en los que hacemos cosas importantes? ¿Cuántas veces se nos han ocurrido ideas, proyectos para realizar que no hemos llevado a cabo, bien por no haber sido valientes o bien por no haber contado con la persona adecuada? Esta vez el sueño se cumplió, esta vez fuimos valientes porque teníamos una buena razón para serlo, esta vez si tuve a una maravillosa persona a mi lado para conseguirlo....esa persona es ahora mi esposa.

Al principio la idea de donar nuestra lista de bodas para la lucha contra el Parkinson y realizar nuestro viaje de novios en una Tandem desde Sheffield a Murcia sólo tenía un objetivo.....animar a mi padre que se encontraba bastante decaído debido a la enfermedad de Parkinson y al cambio de 180º que la enfermedad habia producido en su vida en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Queridos amigos, ese objetivo se cumplío la misma noche que le comunicamos a mi padre nuestra intención mientras hacíamos una videoconferencia con el ordenador entre Sheffield y Murcia. Esa misma noche, sin haber hecho una pedalada, mi padre se animó...y como le suceden a la mayoría de los pacientes de Parkinson...se emocionó.

Y es que la historia es muy bonita...nos decían amigos y familiares! Demasiado bonita para no darlo a conocer me decía mi primo Ricardo! ....cuanta razón tenian..

Y lo que empezó siendo un proyecto de dos persona se convirtió en tres, cuatro, veinte y más...cada uno de vosotros que habéis colaborado, ayudado, compartido este proyecto teneís que sentirlo como vuestro, porque ha sido de todos y para todos. Lo que empezó siendo para ayudar a una persona con Parkinson ha terminado ayudando a docenas, centenas quizas a miles de personas...en España, en el Reino Unido, en Chile, en Costa Rica...en cada pueblo, ciudad o país donde haya un enfermo de Parkinson al que le haya llegado nuestra noticia le habrá ayudado.

A los familiares y amigos que nos habeis seguidos por esta blog y nos habéis escrito algún mensaje de apoyo, a los que nos habeis acogido en vuestras casas, a los que habéis donado dinero para Apanet o PDS, a los medios de comunicación que os habéis interesado por nuestra historia y habéis transmitido el mensaje de solidaridad que queríamos hacer llegar a las personas afectadas de Parkinson, a los que estuvisteis presentes a nuestras llegada a Murcia, a los que nos habeis acompañado en la última etapa y sobre todo a Ricardo, Salvador, Pepe y Mariano que nos habéis acompañado desde Teruel....mi más sinceras gracias.

A Paco Montesinos, Paco Cimas, Merche, Carlos Arana, Ana Maria, Jose Carlos, Itziar, Belinda, Miguel, Pilar, Lola, Claire, Nikki y tantos otros que nos habeis ayudado en dar a conocer a los demás nuestra historia y con ello la enfermedad de Parkinson, les envío mi agradecimiento y muchos ánimos para seguir luchando por el bienestar de los pacientes de Parkinson.

Por último quiero dedicar unas lineas a mi queridísima compañera de tandem, de aventura, de luna de miel....la persona que más quiero en este mundo y que con su sonrisa ilumina mi vida, me refiero, como no, a Antonia...mi mujer. Quiero agradecerte de todo corazón con el mundo entero por testigo que hayas aceptado sin titubeos realizar este proyecto conmigo, quiero que sepas que soy plenamente consciente del esfuerzo que has realizado y que me siento sumamente orgulloso de ti por ello. En mi corazón quedará para siempre esa imagen tuya a la llegada a Murcia, medio emocionada, levantando ese ramo de novia entre la multitud allí presente. Te quiero.

Dear parents, brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles, cousins, friends, journalists, politicians and other people who have followed us so closely, what can we say about the project called 'Pedaling to defeat Parkinson´s' ?

Might we say it has been like a story.....a story of love, a story with its moments of drama and its moments of humour, but above all a story with a happy ending. Who among those at our arrival in Murcia did not feel a little bit moved? I believe everyone´s heart was touched that day.

How many times we find ourselves dreaming about doing something important? how many times we have ideas that we don´t action, either because we have not been brave enough or we did not have the right person to share it with? This time the dream was made reality, this time we were brave enough, this time I had a wonderful person at my side to share it with..... this person is now my wife!

At the very begining the idea to donate our wedding list to fight Parkinson´s and to ride on a tandem from Sheffield to Murcia as a honeymoon had just one goal.... to give support to my dad who had hit a low point as a result of suffering from Parkinson´s and having his life turn 180º in the blink of an eye. Dear friends, that goal was achieved the same night we comunicated to my dad our intentions while we were engaged in a videoconference with the computer. That night, without even having done a stroke of the pedals, my father was happy again and as many other suffers of parkinson´s do, he became emotional!

´.... the story is so beautiful' friends used to tell us, 'it is too beautiful to keep within a small circle' my cousin Ricardo was telling me.....how right they were.

And what started being a project of two people, became a project of three, and then four, six, ten and more because all of you who have help us, coloborated, organised or participated in any manner on this project should take it as yours and for everyone. What started being a project to help one person has ended up helping dozens, hundreds may be thousands of people......in Spain, Britain, Chile, Costa Rica....anywhere where a person with Parkinson´s has had news about us might have helped them.

To our relatives and friends who have followed us through this blog and have sent us support through their messages, those who have taken us into their homes, those who have made donations to either APANET or PDS, to the media who have taken an interest in our story and transmitted our message of solidarity reaching those affected with Parkinson´s, to those who came to receive us in Murcia when we arrived, to those who accompanied us on their bikes for the last day, and especially to Ricardo, Salvador, Pepe and Mariano who accompanied us all the way from Tereul........my most sincere thanks.

To Paco Montesinos, Paco Cimas, Merche, Carlos Arana, Ana Maria, Jose Carlos, Itziar, Belinda, Miguel, Pilar, Lola,Claire, Nikki and many others who have helped us in spreading the word about our story and with increasing awareness of Parkinson´s within the society I send you my gratitude and support to continue the fight against Parkinson´s and to improve the welfare of sufferers.

Finally I want to dedicate these last lines to my dearest tandem, adventure and honeymoon partner.....to the person I love most in this world and with her smile she lights up my life, I am refering to no other than Antonia, my wife. I want to thank you for from the bottom of my heart with the world as my witness for agreeing to undertake this project with me without hesitating. I want you to know that I am totally aware of the effort you made and I am so proud of you for that. The sight of an emotional Toni at the arrival in Murcia holding up the bouquet amongst the crowd, will stay in my heart for ever. I love you.

Si amigos, a gracias a todos lo conseguimos, tenemos muchas historias y fotos que poner en esta blog pero me temo que tendreis que esperar un poquito ya que vamos a estar ocupados con nuestra boda. Volveremos a Sheffield el dia 27 de junio y a partir de entonces nos dedicaremos a actualizar esta pagina. Un abrazo Victor y Toni.

A pesar de ir por la costa nos hemos encontrado con bastantes montanas que junto con el largo recorrido ha hecho que tengamos que hacer un gran esfuerzo. Lo mejor del día fue cuando paramos en Denia a darnos un baño en el mar mediterráneo y a comernos una paella de marisco."

Latest update from the trip: Today we left Gandia heading for Benidorm. In spite of taking the costal route, we have come up against quite a few mountains which together with the long stage has made it very hard work. The best bit of the day was when we stopped in Denia where we bathed in the Med and ate a seafood paella.

Latest text message received from Victor and Toni: "Today, 15th June, we left Valencia heading for Denia as planned. In Dacora and Teruel we have been greeted by different Parkinson's associations and we are grateful to each and everyone of them. The levels of strength are still good and we now have no doubts that we will get to Murcia as planned on 18th June.

"De Arguedas a Bijuesca ha sido sin duda la etapa mas dura hasta ahora. 128km hacia arriba la mayor parte del camino con 35C de temperatura. 12 horas de viaje. Hoy hemos llegado a Daroca donde hemos sido recibidos por la asociación aragonesa de parkinson, en concreto por su presidenta Carmen Odon, su familia y amigos, ¡qué gente más maravillosa! Mañana como planeado saldremos hacia Teruel"

Message received yesterday (10/06/06):

From Arguedas to Bijuesca has without doubt been the hardest stage to date. 128km with the majority being uphill and in 35 degrees. The journey took 12 hours. Today we arrived in Daroca where we were welcomed by the Aragon Parkinson’s Association, more specifically their president Carmen Odon, her family and friend. They are all wonderful people! Tomorrow, as planned, we will be heading for Teruel.

En Arguedas / In Arguedas

Hoy, 7 de junio, alrededor de las 17:00 hemos llegado a Arguedas un poco acalorados teniendo en cuenta que el termómetro marcaba los 33 ºC. Detras hemos dejado los preciosos paisajes del País Vasco, aunque subir los puertos no fue fácil, las vistas y la sensación de lograr subir a lo más alto hizo que disfrutásemos de lo lindo. Hoy, el paisaje a cambiado totalmente, es más llano y mas seco. Hemos comprado el Diario de Navarra y en la página 31 encontramos un artículo de nuestro viaje con foto incluída. Fantástico. Creemos que mucha gente debe habernos visto en el periódico porque ha sido grande el número de personas que nos han pasado en coche y nos han saludado desde la ventanilla, muchísimos que cualquier otro día.
En un momento en la ruta, alrededor de la hora de la siesta española, cerca de la localidad de Milagro, cuando el sol estaba en todo lo alto y el calor apretando, va Antonia y me dice que había contado hasta 25 buítres haciendo circulos en cima de nuestras cabezas. En esos momentos, se ma vino a la cabeza el artículo que había salido esta mañana en el Diario de Navarra en el que los ganaderos se quejaban de que los buitres estaban atacando y matando sus yeguas, ovejas y terneros....! Nada mejor que 25 buitres encima de tu cabeza para motivarte a seguir pedaleando !!!!

Today, 7th June at around 17:00 we arrived in Arguedas a little over heated bearing in mind the temperature was 33ºC. We have left behind the beautiful landscape of the Vasc Country, although going up the mountains was not easy, the views and the sensation of having achieved the climb to the highest point made it more than worthwhile. Today the countryside has changed dramatically, flatter and drier. We purchased the paper ´Diario de Navarra´ and on page 31 we found an article and photo about our trip. Fantastic. We think that many people have seen it the article because today many more people were waving from their car windows and saying hello, more than any other day.
During one particular moment on our route today around about the Spanish siesta time, not far from the village of Milagro, when the sun was at its highest and hotest, Antonia said to me that she had counted 25 vultures circling directly above our heads. In this moment I remembered the article I had read earlier that morning in the ´Diario de Navarra´about how the farmers were complaining because their livestock including mares, cattle and sheep had been attacked and killed by vultures.....! Nothing better than 25 vultures above you to motivate you to keep pedalling !!!!

Llegada en Espana / Arrival in Spain

Victor y Toni llegaron en España el día 5 de junio, y parece ser que había un comité de bienvenida esperando a su llegada en Bilbao. Esta mañana recibí el siguiente mensaje de texto:

“Después de un caluroso recibiendo a nuestra llegada a Bilbao por parte de numeras personas afectadas de Parkinson’s, asociaciones de Parkinson’s, autoridades, medios de comunicación y ciclistas profesionales emprendimos nuestro camino hacia Escoriatza. Resulto ser más duro que lo previsto con tres subidas de las cuales dos tenían tanta pendiente que nos obligaron a bajarnos de la bici y empujarla cuesta arriba. Al final conseguimos llegar al hotel a las 20.00 horas.”

Últimas noticias……. Acabo de hablar con ellos esta noche. Hoy ha pasado con tranquilidad y han llegado en Estella. Están un poquito cansados pero siguen con muchas ganas.

Victor y Toni arrived in Spain on June 5th, and it seems as though there was a large welcoming party waiting for them in Bilbao. This morning I received the following text message:

“After a warm welcome from people with Parkinson’s, Parkinson’s associations, the authorities, press core and professional cyclists on our arrival in Bilbao, we began our journey to Escoriatza. This was harder than we had anticipated, and of the three climbs, we get ff and push the bike on two of them. We finally arrived at the hotel at 20.00h.”

Latest news…… I have just spoken with them tonight. Today has passed with nothing untoward happening and they have arrived in Estella. They are a little tired but their spirits remain high.

Day of rest / Dia de descanso

Nos gustaria dedicar este espacio a Henry y Ruth, tios de Toni, por haber sido tan amables en acojernos en su casa de Coleshill, en Amersham en nuestro primer dia de descanso en nuestro viaje. Tambien quisieramos agradecer a toda la familia que ha venido a vernos mientras que hemos estado en Coleshill.

Estamos muy contentos de poder informaros de que hoy hemos superado la cantidad de 8000 libras en donaciones a Parkinson's Disease Society y 4000 euros para Apanet. Muchisimas gracias a todos.

Cuarta etapa terminada / Fourth stage finished

Acabamos de llegar a la casa de los tios de Toni en Coleshill, Amersham. Por primera vez desde que salimos de Sheffield tenemos acceso a internet. Hemos visitado esta blog y nos hemos alegrado mucho de leer todos los comentarios nuevos que han ido llegando durante los ultimos cuatro dias, especialmente el que nos informa de que Paco Montesinos se recupera favorablemente de su operacion del pasado Lunes. Animo campeon!

Queremos dar las gracias al personal de los dos hoteles (Dingley Lodge Hotel cerca de Market Harborough y Travel Inn en Milton Keynes) donde hemos pasado las dos ultimas noches por haber sido tan amables con nosotros, todas las personas que hemos conocido han mostrado un interes muy especial por nuestro viaje y han sido muy simpaticos y generosos con nosotros. Como dato sorprendente, Mr Bruce Kirkman, gerente de Dingley L. Hotel, nos conto que alla por 1960 y tantos, se construyo una bicicleta cuando tenia tan solo 13 anos de edad y recorrio con ella 250 Km, entre el condado de Durham y el condado de Staffordshire, atravesando todas las colinas de Peak District en un dia y medio! Vaya un chavalin!

We have just arrived to Toni's uncles house in Coleshill, Amersham. For the first time since we set off from Sheffield we have accessed the internet. We have just visited the this blog and we are very pleased to read all these new comments that have been arriving during the last four days, particularly the one that let us know about Paco recovering from his operation last Monday. well done, champ!

We would like to say thank you to all the staff in both hotels (Dingley Lodge Hotel near Market Harborough and Travel Inn in Milton Keynes) where we have stayed the last two nights for being so nice to us, everyone has shown great interest in our trip and they have been very friendly and generous to us. As a remarkable note, Mr Bruce Kirkman, owner of Dingley L. Hotel told us about his 160 mile trip in one day and a half from County Durham to Staffordshire, through the hills in Peak District, when he was just 13 years old on his bike that he built from different bits and pieces. Incredible! what a boy!

The Journey is underway / El viaje ha comenzado

Victor and Toni are now two days into their trip. I have just received an update on how things are going:

"130km in 2 days and everything is going well. We have chosen routes that pas through fields and villages. Spring has finally arrived! It is when England is at it's prettiest. Spirits are high and the legs well rested at the moment. Tomorrow's stage we are dedicating to Paco Montesinos who will be undergoing an operation. We will be thinking of you dear friend. Iba hoy Paco Montesino, presidente de Apanet andando por el monte por un camino y se topa con Peio Ruiz Cabestani, conocidísimo exciclista profesional. Paco le comenta nuestro viaje y Peio contesta que ya conoce la historia gracias a Juan Berrendero. VAYA CASUALIDAD!

Today, Paco Montesinos, Chief executive of APANET, was having a walk in the countryside when come across with Peio Ruiz Cabestani, well known exprofesional cyclist. Paco mentioned to him about our trip and Peio responded that he already is aware of the story thanks to Juan Berrendero. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!
For Antonia and I , knowing the great Peio is aware of our challenge, give us a enormous motivation.

The epic journey is about to start / El viaje épico esta a punto de comenzar

All the hard kilometers of training completed and the packing done (what little can be packed on a tandem!), Victor and Toni are about to embark on a journey of a lifetime. Nos gustaría dedicar este espacio a Ricardo y Salva por la extraordinaria labor y dedicación que están realizando en la organización y preparación de nuestro viaje, en particular en la divulgación del mismo a los medios de comunicación, empresas, entidades públicas y especialmente a las personas que directamente o indirectamente están luchando contra el Parkinson. Gracias por los trípticos, posters, cartas, logotipos, camisetas, etc..

Por supuesto no íbamos a olvidar el esfuerzo que estáis poniendo en la organización de la última etapa en la cual esperamos que se una el mayor número de personas posible con sus bicicletas y recorrer el camino juntos hasta llegar a Murcia capital.

Ánimo con los preparativos, ¡ nos vemos en Teruel !

We would like to dedicate this post to Ricardo and Salva for their extraordinary work and dedication shown in the organisation and preparation of our journey, in particular with the promotion of the same to the media, companies, public entities and specially to the people who directly or indirectly are fighting against Parkinson´s disease. Thank you for the leaflets, posters, letters, logos, t-shirts, etc...

Of course, we wouldn´t forget the effort you are putting in the organitation of the last stage in which we hope to be joined by the biggest number of people possible with their bikes to ride together towards Murcia City.

ULTIMOS ENTRENAMIENTOS / LAST TRAINING SESSIONS

Con los últimos dos fines de semana, tenemos que dar por finalizado el corto periodo de entrenamiento que hemos tenido antes de salir hacia Murcia el 27 de este mes. Un fin de semana fuímos a casa de nuestra amiga Nikki que vive en la ciudad de Nottingham, pasamos la noche del sábado con Nikki y su hermano Tim y volvimos a Sheffield el domingo. Teníamos muchas ganas de hacer esta ruta ya que es la misma ruta que haremos en nuestro primer día del viaje. Aunque llovío los dos días no fue demasiado duro y acabamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho sin mucha dificultad. El fin de semana siguiente fue bien distinto, no en cuanto al tiempo ya que fue incluso más lluvioso y frío sino en cuanto a la dureza del recorrido. Salimos el sábado por la mañana desde nuestra casa en Mosborough, al sur de Sheffield, hacia la casa de nuestros amigos Claire y Nick en Bramley, un pueblo entre Leeds y Bradford. Pasamos la noche del sábado con ellos y regresamos a Sheffield el domingo.. La gran distancia del recorrido y la constantes subidas y bajadas hicieron que tuvieramos que ponerle todo lo que teníamos para poder llegar. Ha sido sin duda lo más duro que hemos hecho hasta ahora encima de la tandem y nos servirá muy bien como entrenamiento para cuando estemos rodando por las montañas del País Vasco. Queremos aprovechar esta blog para agradecer a nuestros buenos amigos Nikki en Nottinham y Claire y Nick en Leeds por habernos cuidado tan bien y habernos acogido con tanta hospitalidad en sus casas. Un abrazo a los tres, ¡ nos vemos en la boda !

Our short traning period has come to an end with the last two weekends before we begin our trip to Murcia on the 27th of this month. One weekend we went to our friend Nikki´s house who lives in the City of Nottingham. We spent the Saturday evening with Nikki and her brother Tim and the next day we returned to Sheffield. We particularly wanted to do this journey as it is the same one we will have to do on the first day of our trip to Spain. Although it was raining both days it turned out not to be too hard and we finished content as we did it without many difficulties. The following weekend was another story, not in terms of the weather which was even wetter and colder but because of the terrain and the distance. We set off on Saturday morning from our house in Mosborough, south of Sheffield, to Claire and Nick´s house in Bramley, a village between Bradford and Leeds. We spent Saturday evening with them and we returned on Sunday. The long distance and the up and downs all the way made us use all the strength we could find in our legs and hearts in order to reach the destination. Without a doubt it has been the biggest effort we have done so far with the tandem and it will be very useful for when we are crossing the mountains in the Vasc Country. We would like to make the most of this blog to say thank you to our good friends, Nikki in Notingham and Claire and Nick in Leeds for looking after us so well and having us in their homes with so much hospitality. A big hug to you all. We will see you at the wedding!

SEMANA SANTA / EASTER WEEKEND

Hemos tenido un fin de semana largo de cuatro días y lo hemos aprovechado para practicar con la tandem. Nos propusimos hacer 80 kms cada uno de los cuatro días y nos alegra poder comunicaros que lo conseguimos. No fue fácil, cualquiera que esté familiarizado con los alrededores de Sheffield, especialmente en Peak District, sabrá que no es nada llano. Son continuas las subidas y las bajadas pero el paisaje, sobre todo en esta época del año hizo que lo disfrutásemos muchísimo.

Pasamos por pueblos tan bonitos como: Hathersage, Castleton, Bradwell, Tideswell, Baslow, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Dore, Totley, Fulwood, Wentworth, etc. La foto con las camisetas de la asociación de Parkinson en el Reino Unido (PDS) fue tomada en nuestro jardín al final del cuarto día con 320 km en las piernas. ¡ Lo conseguimos!

We have had a four day weekend which we have made the most of to practice with the tandem. The idea was do bike 50 miles each of the four days and we are happy to tell you that we did it!! It wann´t easy and any of you familar with the surrounding area to Sheffield, especially the Peak District will appreciate that it is not flat. It is constant ups and downs but the amazing views made it worthwhile.

We passed through beautiful villages such as Hathersage, Castleton, Bradwell, Tideswell, Baslow, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Dore, Totley, Fullwood, Wentworth etc. The photo of us in the Parkinson´s t-shirts was taken in our garden after the four days when our legs had taken a 200 miles hammering. We did it!!

Entrenando más en serio/ proper training started

Ya sólo quedan un par de meses para emprender nuestro viaje a Los Alcázares de Murcia con lo que hay que entrenar más en serio, el tiempo este fin de semana pasado era menos frio y lluvioso por lo que pudimos hacer 80 Kms el sábado y 55 Km el Domingo. Nuestro amigo Andy nos acompañó el domingo y tomó estas fotos de nosotros. Fue duro, para que vamos a negarlo, todavía nuestros cuerpos no se han acostumbrado a esa distancia. Además mi primo Ricardo, me ha dicho después de ver las fotos de que voy sentado muy alto con el manillar muy bajo!. Claro eso explica porque se me dormían los pies y las manos después de un rato en la bici. A pesar del dolor y del cansacio, hemos disfrutado un montón, los bocadillos que preparó Toni sabían a gloria cuando paramos a descansar, el paisaje era precioso, el aire era fresco y limpio. Cuando regresas a casa y te sientas en el sofá con una buena taza de té te sientes muy bien después de haber hecho tanto ejercicio.

Only a couple of months left to begin our trip to Los Alcázares in Murcia, so we have to start training seriously now. The weather last weekend was less cold and rainy so we could complete 50 miles on Saturday and 35 miles on Sunday. Our friend, Andy, came with us on Sunday and took these pictures of us. It was hard, let´s not deny it, our bodies haven´t got used to that distance yet. Also, my cousin Ricardo, after having seen the pictures, has told me that my seat is too high and the handle bar too low. That could explain why my feet and hands were getting numb after a while on the bike. Despite the soreness and tiredness we have enjoyed ourselves very much and when we stopped for a rest the sandwiches that Toni prepared tasted fantsti. The landscape was stunning and the air was cool and fresh. When we got home and sat on the sofa with a nice cup of tea we felt good after having done so much exercise.

Hola a todos y bienvenidos a nuestra página de Pedaleando para vencer al Parkinson.
Hello everybody and welcome to our weblog Pedaling to defeat Parkinson´s.
Éstos dos de la fotos somos mi prometida y yo con nuestra bicicleta tandem con la que pretendemos realizar el reto de viajar desde Sheffield en Inglaterra hasta Los Alcázares en la provincia de Murcia para casarson a nuestra llegada en el Ayuntamiento de dicha localidad.

These two in the picture are my fiancé Antonia and I with our tandem bike which we will use for our journey from Sheffield, UK to Los Alcázares in Murcia, Spain. On our arrival we will get married in the Town Hall in Los Alcázares

Partiremos el día 27 de mayo 06 para intentar llegar a los Alcázares el 19 de junio. La boda tendrá lugar el día 24 de junio 06.

We will depart on the 27th May 06 and we are going to try to arrive to Los Alcázares on the 19th June. The wedding will take place on the 24th June 06.

Supongo que os preguntaréis cuales han sido las razones que nos han llevado a dedicir realizar tal aventurero viaje, por lo que las enumeraremos a continuación:

I suppose you will be wondering what the reasons were behind us deciding to go on this adventure, they are as follows:

Recoger fondos para Parkinson´s Disease Society (PDS) en el Reino Unido y la Asociación de Parkinson en Internet (APANET) en España.
Sensibilizar y hacer a la sociedad más consciente de la enfermedad de Parkinson.
Animar a las personas con Parkinson y en especial a mi padre que sufre de Parkinson desde el año 2001.
Fomentar el uso de la bicicleta y la creación de más carriles para las mismas y vías verdes.
Conocer el país de mi prometida y el mío propio, desde el sillín de nuestra bicicleta, pasando por las pequeñas poblaciones y conociendo a su gente.
Convertir este viaje en nuestra luna de miel, sabiendo que al final del mismo nos esperarán nuestros amigos y familiares.
Collect funds for Parkinson´s Disease Society in the UK and the Spanish equivelant in Spain, (APANET) La Asociacion de Parkinson´s en Internet.
Create awareness about Parkinson´s Disease.
Animate those affected by Parkinson´s especially my father who has been suffering with Parkinson since 2001.
Promote the use of bicycles and the creation of more cycle routes.
Find out more about our countries from the seats of our bike, passing through small villages meeting their people.
Make this trip into our Honeymoon, knowing that at the end our family and friends await.

A nuestros queridísimos amigos y familiares queremos comunicar que hemos decidido no tener lista de boda, a cambio, donaciones dirigidas a PDS o APANET serían el mejor regalo de bodas que podíamos recibir.

To our dearest friends and relatives we would like to comunicate that we have decided not to have a wedding list, but instead all donations to go towards PDS or ANAPET would be the best wedding present we could recieve.
